Gambling responsibilities
At Danoptra Limited we take our responsibilities within the industry very seriously and are very keen to promote best practices. An essential part of leading industry opinion is to keep up-to-date with all the legal requirements and to translate these directions into active and positive policies.
Gambling Commission
Danoptra and all its subsidiary companies comply with the Gambling Act 2005 and all other relevant pieces of legislation, and with all of the requirements, regulations, policies, Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice of the UK Gambling Commission.
In particular, Danoptra and all its subsidiaries are committed to the 3 Licensing Objectives in the Gambling Act 2005, which are:
1. Preventing gambling from being a source of crime or disorder, being associated with crime or disorder, or being used to support crime.
2. Ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way.
3. Protecting children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling.
BACTA
BACTA is the British Amusement Catering Trade Association. It aims to be “the voice of the pay-to-play leisure industry”. It represents over 600 companies, and “aims to improve the image of the industry, encourage good practice, and create an optimal environment for all sectors”. Danoptra and its subsidiaries are heavily represented on the Committees for BACTA’s relevant Divisions, and Danoptra plays a very full part in BACTA’s operations.
Business in Sport and Leisure
BISL is an umbrella body for companies in the fields of leisure, hospitality and sport. It aims “to be the leading body within the Sports, Leisure and Hospitality industry for influencing the Government, disseminating information, and promoting the industry.” It has an active committee dealing with Gambling issues, in which Danoptra plays a full part.
Department of Culture Media and Sport
The DCMS, as the Government Department responsible for Gambling, along with many other issues, has significant powers under the Gambling Act 2005, and will use these from time to time, to introduce amending regulations which affect the industry.
